With great charm, grace, artistry, daring and athletic skill, Midori Ito (伊藤 みどり) epitomizes women’s figure skating. She was the first woman to land a Triple Axel and a triple-triple combination in competition, the first Asian skater to win a World’s competition, and has more 6.0 World Championship scores (ten total) than any other figure skater, male or female. On 25 March 2004, Midori Ito was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” of World Figure Skating. Her influence on ice skating continues today and will last for generations.
