Call for Papers and Symposium Announcement
INTERNATIONAL LARGE TRUCK SAFETY SYMPOSIUM

The goal of this symposium is to provide a forum for the many stakeholders in truck safety, such as carriers, shippers, inspectors, law enforcement officials, highway officials, insurers, regulators, manufacturers, and researchers to network and discuss the key issues affecting large truck safety.

The symposium will be held in Knoxville, Tennessee, October 27-29, 1997. Papers and oral presentations are invited in areas including but not limited to those listed below:

Driver Issues and Human Factors

  • Vehicle Design
  • Driver Fatigue
  • Road User Awareness
  • Truck Technologies and Truck-Related ITS
  • Accident Data Investigation and Analysis
  • Regulatory Issues
  • North American Community Image
  • Partnerships -- Carriers/Shippers
  • Road and Terminal Geometry

Prospective presenters should submit a proposed title with an abstract (500 words or less) by May 2, 1997.
Confirmation of accepted paper, May 15, 1997
Deadline for paper submission for proceedings, August 1, 1997
