Symposia (TDOT and Grade Crossing Safety)



The Transportation Center organizes several small scale conferences and two large symposia as part of its technology transfer efforts. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Symposium brings over 300 TDOT engineers and 30 UT faculty to discuss the latest advances and state-of-the-art technologies in transportation. Specific session topics include Advanced Technology/Technology Transfer, Construction and Maintenance, Pavement and Materials, Planning, Environmental and Development Issues, Structures, Traffic and Safety.

The Railroad-Highway Grade Crossing Safety Symposium brings over 175 delegates from around the world to discuss all aspects of Grade Crossing Safety. Session topics include Grade Crossing Safety/Design, Grade Crossing Traffic Control, Driver Behavior and Human Factors, Risk Management and Liability Issues, Impact of Federal and State Legislation/Regulation, Train and Crew Operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems and Advanced Technologies.
