Welcome to the Southeastern Transportation Center (STC). Our US DOT University Transportation Center represents the eight Region IV states -- Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee. The STC is dedicated to the mission of training professionals to address the transportation needs of the region and nation in the 21st Century. Responding to one of the most critical transportation issues throughout the southeast region and nation, we have selected the theme of "Transportation Safety" as an integral component of our educational program, as well as the focus of our research and technology transfer activities. Operating under this theme, the center has a reputation as a national leader in safety research and training in both highway transportation and public transportation modes.
The University of Tennessee in Knoxville is the STC's lead institution. Dr. Stephen Richards, Director of the UT Transportation Center, serves as the STC Director. Dr. Richards is assisted in the management of the STC by the Center's Co-Director, Ms. Joyce Johnson of North Carolina A&T University. In addition to UT and North Carolina A&T, several of the region's most respected universities with major transportation programs are participants in the STC -- including Duke, Georgia State, North Carolina Central, North Carolina State, and Vanderbilt Universities; and the Universities of Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina at Charlotte, and South Florida.
In this center you will find the latest up to date information on STC research projects, education programs and technology transfer highlights.
