Before You Start:

Configuring the Test Program for test viewing.

You will need to have a program for test viewing your document as you work on it. HTML Assistant works well with Cello, Netscape and most versions of Mosaic.

To set a test program:

From File menu select "Set test program name..." Select the path and filename for the Web browser. When asked to save as a "permanent test program name" click "Yes" if you want to have HTML Assistant save this setup. You may not want to save the setup if you desire to test your document repeatedly on different browsers. This can be worked around by opening a Web browser and then point it to your local file. In Netscape this would be the "Local File" selection under the File menu.

If you are using Cello as your test program, you probably will want to set HTML Assistant to use DDE. Under Options in the menu, select the "Use DDE with Cello" option.

To use Netscape as a stand-alone viewer (you do not need a network connection) use mozock.dll in place of winsock.dll. For more information visit Mark Dittberner's Using the mozock.dll file page at http://www.engsoc.carleton.ca/Documentation/Internet/mozock.html, or search for "mozock" in any Web search engine.
