You can approach adding a link in two ways. You could first name your link -- the clickable, underlined text that will show up on your page -- and then add the link, or you can add the link and then name it.
Naming the link first.
In your document edit window, type the name of your link. This could be the actual URL, where the link is to, or a name you make up to describe what the link is to. After you have done this, highlight the text. Then click on the Link button in the upper tool bar. A Dialog Box will appear (BTW, this is an example of naming a link to describe what the link is, not where it is located). Select the URL Prefix. Next type in the URL in the URL Text box. You can click on the Browse button to search for a URL in saved .url, .txt or .htm files, or to search for an image file (you can, of course, link to any kind of binary or ASCII file). Alternatively, the URL list box will contain any URL's or file names that you have already entered earlier during the present working session of HTML Assistant. Click the OK button. Your highligted text is now a clickable link.
Creating the link first.
In your document edit window, place the cursor where you want the link to be added. Click on the Link button. A Dialog Box will appear. Select the URL Prefix. Next type in the URL in the URL Text box, or enter the URL by using the Browse button, or the URL List box. Click the OK button. In the edit window type in the name of your link between the open and closing link tags.

Adding inline images to your document is similar to adding links. After placing the cursor to where in the document you want the inline image tag to go, click on the Image button in the upper tool bar. A Dialog Box will appear. Select the URL Prefix. Next type in the URL in the URL Text box. You can click on the Browse button to search for an image file. Under the URL File menu, you can also load a URL file to search. Alternatively, the URL list box will contain any URL's you have already entered earlier during the present working session of HTML Assistant. In the Alternate Text box, type in the name of the link or of the file for Lynx users. Choose whichever image alignment you desire. Click the OK button.

Alternatively, you can use the "Edit/Build URL Files" option under URL in the top menu bar. Under the File Menu in the URL Manager window you can add URL's from different browsers, by allowing you to convert the browsers' bookmark files, menus or hotlists to HTML Assistant URL files. The URL's are listed in the first box of the URL Manager window. with their accompanying comments or descriptions in the second box.
To create your own files or add to the contents of existing files, click on the "Add New URL" button. Enter the URLs and Comments into the appropriate text boxes. Next, click on the "Accept New URL" button. The URLs and descriptions in the text boxes can be edited or deleted. To save changes, click the "Accept Edited Text" button.
