Introduction




HTML Assistant (TM) 1.4 is an HTML hypertext editor for Microsoft Windows. It features context sensitive help, status bar, ability to test your document without leaving the editor, opening of more than one file at a time, URL creation, editing and compilation; user tools that can be edited to reflect new HTML coding, automatic conversion of Unix text to DOS text.

HTML Assistant 1.4 is freeware, and is made freely available in part due to the courtesy of the Chebucto FreeNet and Dalhousie University at Halifax, Nova Soctia, Canada. The authors of HTML Assistant do encourage you to send a donation to the Chebucto FreeNet:

There is a commercial version HTML Assistant Pro available. Click on the HTML Assistant Help button, then on "What is HTML Assistant Pro" for more information on features and how to order. Do not confuse HTML Assitant Pro with HTML Assistant Pro-lite. The commercial version HTML Assistant Pro-Lite is basically the freeware version 1.4 with a few minor improvements plus a manual with tutorials, and full support. Go for the full Pro version, if you want to get into some serious web weaving.

This tutorial is not an HTML tutorial. There are plenty of HTML tutorials out on the net, or at your local bookstore. The main focus of this work is to be a tutorial and guide on how to use HTML Assistant.
